Requirements
This is a no-audition choir so any and all are welcome to join. We do like challenging music, so having some musical background is helpful but not required. Unsure? Drop by a rehearsal and see what you think!
In order to be well prepared for performances, we ask that choir members try to limit absences to three (but please stay home and rest if you're not feeling well!).
Materials
Music will be provided. Please bring a black 3-ring binder and a few pencils (we have spares that can be borrowed).
Dues
Cost: Our dues are $100 per semester to help cover the cost of our choir director, accompanist, music, and some admin expenses. Dues only cover about 1/3 of our costs, so the choir also engages in fundraising activities throughout the year.
Deadline: We kindly request that dues be paid by the end of February, to allow us to better manage our budget.
Pay Online: Use the donation form on our website (WashingtonHeightsChoir.org)
Pay by Check: Checks should be made payable to Washington Heights Community Choir
Financial Assistance: Some hardship waivers are available - please contact Beth for more information.
COVID Protocols
Unfortunately, there is a new, more transmissible variant on the rise (Omicron XBB), which appears to be capable of evading some treatments, as well as antibodies from previous COVID infections or vaccinations. To keep everyone as healthy as possible, we will continue to rehearse and perform with masks on, and with air purifiers in the room. Please bring a high-quality, well-fitting mask (e.g., N95 or KN95). We will have a few on hand, too.
While vaccines are no longer a requirement, we do encourage everyone to stay up-to-date on boosters to prevent severe illness. And If you're not feeling well for any reason, please stay home and rest up!
